When providing data to Soil Capital Ltd and/ or its subsidiaries (“Soil Capital”, “we” or “us”) you trust us with your data. We recognise that your privacy is very important to you and we are committed to protecting your Personal Information.

“Personal Information” includes among others, any personal data such as name, address and contact details, as well as any operational information, such as field-level data (including location), financial performance data and operational metrics.

This Notice describes which data we collect, what we do with it, who may have access to it, your rights regarding this data and our legal grounds for this processing.

In short

Your Personal Information remains your property. When we receive it, we may analyse and aggregate it in order to extract insights that may be useful for you. We may also share anonymised insights with our other clients. We will normally keep your Personal Information for as long as is necessary to continue providing and improving our products and services.

At any time, you have the right to ask us to complete, amend or entirely delete the Personal Information of yours that we hold. You just need to send us an email on hello@soilcapital.com for the attention of our Data Protection Officer. We will act on your request within one month.

The safety of your Personal Information is very important to us. This is why we only process your Personal Information in encrypted systems and why we take all reasonable precautions as a team to ensure it remains in safe hands. However, please remember the internet is not 100% secure, so you need to take precautions too, especially when sending and receiving Personal Information.

Which Personal Information we collect

We collect Personal Information that you voluntarily provide to us when communicating with us.

The Personal Information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us, the choices you make and the products and services you use. It can include the following:

  • Operational data. We collect data you share with us related to your farming operations, such as field-level data (including location), financial performance data, operational metrics and other similar data

All Personal Information that you provide to us must be true, complete and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such Personal Information.

We may also receive Personal Information from a third party, for example about people that may be interested in receiving our products and services.

What we do with your Personal Information

We collect, store and process your Personal Information for the following main purposes:

  • To verify your identity and maintain our relationship with you
  • To provide our products and services to you
  • To produce insights as part of our business and to improve our products and services for you and other clients

As part of our products and services, we aggregate your operational data with that of our other clients, producing insights for you and our other clients. Before we do so, we anonymise your operational data. We will only share your full Personal Information with yourself, unless we have your consent to proceed otherwise.

We may disclose Personal Information to the extent that we are required to do so by law.

The legal basis for us to process your Personal Information

We process your Personal Information mainly in order to be able to provide our products and services to our clients (this is known as legitimate interests basis). When appropriate, we will process your Personal Information in order to perform under a contract with you (this is known as contractual basis). Occasionally we will request your explicit consent when this is needed (this is known as consent basis).

How long we keep your Personal Information

We will only keep your Personal Information for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Notice as updated, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting or other legal requirements).

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your Personal Information, we will either delete or anonymize it, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your Personal Information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your Personal Information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

We do not knowingly collect information from or provide products or services to children below the age of 18. If we learn that we have received information from a child under the age of 18, we will delete such information.

  • To require us to rectify or update any inaccurate Personal Information, or complete any incomplete Personal Information

We will deal with your request within a month of reception. Please note that, if you request us to delete your Personal Information, we will no longer be able to provide you with our products and services.
